Drawing Restraint 9 is a feature-length art film by American artist Matthew Barney, dealing with the relationship between creativity and self-imposed resistance. The film is only a portion of a greater art piece, the ninth in Matthew Barney’s ongoing Drawing Restraint series, which he began in 1987.

Drawing Restraint 9 is currently being exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The multimedia artwork, a combination of a 3+ hour movie and a massive floor-wide installation created especially for SFMoMA, will be on display until September 17th. Like any good 21st century museum, they’re offering a podcast.
